In Remembrance of Some of our Lovely Artists
Mary Harrison
It was with great sadness that we laid our founder member Mary Harrison to rest on 13th October 2021.
Mary was a woman of outstanding talent in many different fields, from women's Hockey and Football to Marathon running, completing 2 London Marathons and one swindon one and many more half Marathons.
She gained many medals for her sporting activities and recognition for her works in Royal Wootton Bassett.
She was also involved in many local activities including the Scouts, looking after the historic Town Hall and helping to run the RWBDAS, which she help to set up in 1982.
She will be greatly missed by many people. Here are some lovely photos of Mary at the RWBADAS.
1)Mary’s order of service, 2) Cutting her birthday cake for her 85th birthday, 3) Receiving the Phil Flowerdew cup for service to the art society, from Phil our President and Brian our chairman, 4) Mary doing one of her exquisite drawings during an art session at Hook, 5) Cutting the cake with Phil Flowerdew, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Art society, 6) members of the art society honouring Mary and Arthur on their 60th wedding anniversary, 7) Lunch during one of our outdoor sketching sessions during our summer closure. Outdoor sketching was something Mary really loved to do.

Brian Bevis
It was with great sadness that we laid our Chairman Brian to rest on Monday 26th April 2021. It was a very moving ceremony that spoke of his long service to his Queen and country in the RAF, his dedication to his family and his wicked sense of humour. He will be missed by all who knew him and a great loss to the RWBADAS. Our thoughts are with Anne and her family at this sad time. Here are some photos from the order of service and one of Brian’s lovely paintings.
Phil Flowerdew
On 22nd July 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, we said a very sad goodbye to our long time President Phil Flowerdew.
Phil was a very talented artist and kind and gentle man.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and a great loss to the Royal Wootton Basset Art Group.
Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
